A Camping Adventure!

Last weekend we headed up American Fork canyon with Erik and Joel and some friends from their single's ward for one last camping trip of the Summer. Since Mike and I had to work we headed up after work, but everyone else headed up earlier that day and got us a camp site. We normally go to the same two camp sites but they found this new one that was covered by trees so we ended up setting up camp there and it was the perfect spot. When we got there everyone was just getting ready to eat so we set up our tent and then roasted hot dogs over the fire. We were all just sitting around the camp fire talking and roasting s'mores. Well one of Erik and Joel's friend was not going to spend the night so Erik along with a few of the girls headed down the mountain to take her back. This is where things got interesting. The rest of us were just sitting around the camp fire talking when all of a sudden we hear someone yelling. We couldn't figure out what they were saying but at first it sounded like Joel. So we wondered if it was Erik and they needed help so Joel yelled back but then we heard nothing. A couple minutes later the voice sounded like it was getting closer and we could finally tell that someone was yelling help. I'm thinking oh no this is not good. Someone probably fell off the cliff or something.

So Joel hopes on the 4-wheeler and heads up to see what he can see. While Joel is up there trying to figure things out the voice gets really close. And we can tell that he is up on the road. So now he is yelling "can someone please help me", then he would say "i'm just so ****"; "i'm just SOL"; "can you just help me get across". So Mike and a couple other guys that were there go over to the river that was between us and the road and are talking to him and he wants to come and spend the night at our campground and starts to tell us how he needs to get to American Fork. So Mike and the guys talk to him for a little while then tell him sorry dude but you can't stay here. In the mean time Joel comes back and tells us that he has rolled his car off the side of the cliff and his car is just hanging there. So they decide that they better take him down the mountain and call the Sheriff. Mike ended up staying back so Joel headed up on the 4-wheeler and a couple of the girls hopped on another 4-wheeler to go with him so he wasn't along with this crazy drunk/high guy. Well we were down in a little raven type thing and to get out you had to go up a steep hill. Well the girls that were on the 4-wheeler ended up rolling the 4-wheeler while they were trying to get up. It was so scary. And we didn't know exactly what had happened because it was so dark and all we could hear were people talking. Well while everyone was taking care of the girls that rolled Erik had come back so he went with Joel to take the drunk guy down the mountain in the jeep and all the girls came back to camp. I guess someone else that had been on the road had noticed this drunk guy driving so when he got down the mountain and in cell phone range he had called the Sheriff and so when Joel and Erik got down there 5 Sheriff were waiting for him. It was so crazy and i'm not going to lie it was a little nerve wrecking there for a while. I'm just glad that everything worked out and they were able to get him down the mountain before he hurt anyone. One of the girls on the 4-wheeler was fine but come to find out the other girl has a partially torn MCL and needless to say she was pretty sore the next day. It was a crazy night!!

The next morning was less crazy and we just woke up had a delicious breakfast then rode the 4-wheelers around for awhile. When we were done riding and had everything packed up we decided to head down the other side of the mountain that drops you off into Midway and eat at the train station in Heber. It was a pretty drive and it is always fun to eat at the train station! They even have a gluten free menu which was pretty darn good. It made for a long day but it was fun and worth it.

When we got home we got cleaned up and then headed over to Stacy and Cameron's to watch the BYU v. Utah football game and to practice making Ty's birthday cake. It was fun making the cake and it is going to be so cute! I can't wait. At least that was fun since the game was dumb and the zoobies were dumb and need to learn how to play football!! But other than the crazy drunk guy and the rolled 4-wheeler and the zoobies losing to the dirty Utes again it was a really good weekend!! And with that we say goodbye to Summer and hello to Fall. I can't wait for October! We have tons of fun stuff planned!!!
